In Boston MA the east terminus of US 20 has always been but over the years the end point of it got changed. Along with Common wealth Avenue US 20 got routed.
Jeff Morrison who did research points out something that may be of interest to baseball fans: this intersection is about 600 feet due north of Fenway Park's "Green Monster".
MA hwy. 2 steadily comes up to Commonwealth via Beacon Street. At the point where these two roads meet, MA 2 switches over to Commonwealth, and the US 20 designation ends.
Towards the lower left of the "End US 20" sign is the Commonwealth (US 20). Towards the lower right is Beacon (MA 2). Far towards the right is Brookline Avenue. Straight ahead is Commonwealth (MA 2). The traffic coming up directly ahead is coming from both Commonwealth (MA 2) and Beacon; Beacon is one-way westbound east of this meeting point, and it has just combined with Commonwealth in the middle ground.
In the early 1940's, US 20 got extended past Albany, through Corvallis and on to its present western terminus at Newport.
At the coast highway or at US 101 there is a traffic signal. The green sign directs Waldport and Florence traffic towards the left, while Depoe Bay and Lincoln City is towards the right. Half a mile ahead there is the Pacific ocean.
